Join us for the Thursday evening opening reception at the Richard B. Russell Building Special Collections Libraries. This building was opened in 2012 and brings Georgia's history to life and is a must see for any visitor to Athens.

The building is home to three magnificent archives:

  • The Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library
  • The Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies
  • The Walter J. Brown Media Archives and Peabody Awards Collection

These libraries acquire, organize, preserve, and provide access to unique and rare materials related to the history and culture of Georgia.

Social and Dinner Tailgate

The Southeastern Conference and the University of Georgia are famous for their football tailgates. Food, beverage, music, games, and socializing start early on game day and continue even after the game. Experience what is like with a Friday evening social hour and dinner tailgate at the Coca-Cola Plaza in the Business Learning Community. Harry Dawg (the human version of Uga) might even make an appearance!

Do you want to have your picture taken with Harry? Would you like to have a Georgia G painted on your cheek? Wear your school colors, because everyone is welcome at a Georgia tailgate.
